The first thing I want to say is "Thank You Sara!". Sara has been running this website since it began. I volunteered to take it off her hands because I'm a big nerd about all things technology, including website building.
I have added a few things such as the ability to apply for membership by filling out a form and pushing a button. When that button is pushed, I receive the info by e-mail and I take it to the next club meeting for discussion and a vote.
I also added a new page for what some of the club officers like to call the BB Gun brigade. We just call it pellet rifle night. We have been shooting on Thursdays for a couple of years now and the only person to get a perfect 10 on all 10 targets is Roger. My personal best is 97 and it's not as easy as it looks.
We'll see how the blog goes because I tend to ramble.  Hope to see you at the club!

Hey guys and gals, this blog is lacking the key element to any blog and that is comments. So whether it matters or not I am going to talk about the pellet shoot night every Thursday.

I am a shooter, preferring long range, but since I no longer have a center fire rifle short range it is. Now cartridges cost a lot of money these days but pellets cost about ten or eleven dollars per 5,000, that's right THOUSAND. That my friends is a lot of shooting and it even gets better as you don't have to clean your rifle when you get done. You do not need ear protection and you only have a miss fire if you forget to insert a pellet into the rifle.

Pellet rifle shooting is a bit more difficult than powder burners because of the different characteristics of the rifle and ammunition. Each pellet rifle can be very sensitive to the type pellet you are using. Some like light weight, like our Avanti's (7 to 8 grain) and others like heavier pellets like my Gamo gas piston which prefers Beeman Grizzly 10.65 grain domed pellets. Pellet guns are not all created equal and because of this you can go through a lot of different pellet configurations before finding the one your rifle will settle for and give you consistent accuracy and tight one hole groups.

Pellet weight isn't the only parameter that has to be ironed out. The type of pellet configuration is also critical. Some rifles like the domed and some like the wad cutter. Some like the hollow point and some do not. Spring powered pellet rifles require an artillery hold while the Avanti does not. Gas piston rifles will send a platinum pellet down range at 1,300 to 1,400 feet per second with 120 p.s.i. of muzzle velocity and you can hear it break the sound barrier.

There are pellet rifles for just about any need. You can buy target rifles with low velocity, or 50 caliber pellet rifles that will take down a moose. There are variations in between the two as well making this sport so much more versatile and interesting than the pellet rifles of yesteryear.

So, if this rambling has perked your curiosity and you would like to know more you are welcome to join us on Thursday evenings at teh clubhouse starting at 6:00 p.m. You will find a group of pellet shooters that will not only welcome you but will also be glad to answer all your questions to the best of our abilities; and the ones we can't answer we know who to refer you to that can.

Come check us out, meet new friends and have a great time.
